After ten years of working as a Visual Effects Artist on big-budget Hollywood productions (Happy Feet, I,Robot, I Am Legend, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, etc.), Rob was offered a major visual effects role on Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. He turned it down. He had decided it was time to return to the northwest to start his family. For Rob, family is first.
He and his wife Chloe were married in a treehouse his father built. They live on a little farm where Rob can watch his 19-month-old daughter scurry around after their free-range chickens. They just had their second daughter. Bliss is a word that comes to mind.
Rob's ultimate career goal is to produce and direct independent feature films. He makes commercials to hone his directing, cinematography and editing skills.
He is often moved by smaller films with strong emotions at their core. Character-driven stories, often love stories, are his favorite subjects for film. For him, emotion is the key to good filmmaking.
When Rob shot his first wedding he realized that here, too, emotion is key. He saw the beauty of the day and the love of the couple. Here is the chance to shoot a love story in a single day. Wow, he thought, this is perfect.
His sister, Jenn, is a rising star on the wedding photography scene. Together, they have decided to offer HD quality wedding videography as a service of Crain Studios.
